OUR STORY

Starting in 2017 our first customers were Arla Foods & ATL. Now in 2023 and working through the pandemic we have enjoyed partnerships with Arla Foods Outbound & Inbound, Muller Milk & Ingredients, Alliance Healthcare, Gist, & Heydon Chilled. ALS Specialise in temperature controlled transport with the latest fleet ensuring its impact on the road and our planet is managed & monitored.

ALS was founded on a team with over 75 years of experience within the transport industry. Our passion was to be effective, sustainable, and an alternative to large businesses delivering tailored, cost effective, & on time deliveries around the United Kingdom. We started off at the Aylesbury Dairy site, but after growing substantially, outperforming our competition, & taking on more clients we moved to a dedicated Operating Centre in Woodham giving us the ability to take on more opportunities and customers away from the fresh milk scope the UK.

Many more relationships were forged from Woodham including Alliance Healthcare, Muller Milk & Ingredients, DHL, Amazon, & Gist.

New staff were introduced to the ALS Team in early 2022 to further strengthen our team

ALS in 2023, now very much established in our Operating Centre in Woodham, continued to push forwards with new business coming out of the pandemic and IR35 rule changes. ALS successfully secured our existing contracts with all clients, and grew within the Arla Foods business based on customer service levels, and ad-hoc ability to react with the customer. Our pallet network has since doubled in size, proving that small to medium size businesses are just, if not more effective than large hauliers.

OUR VISION FOR 2025

After a large focus on further education and training for the operations team in 2024 ALS have seen a steady growth in new customers and being award with DTAS & BRC AA+ accreditation. This joins up our leading operation ensuring the highest standards are met direct from farm to customer. Our “Investing in people” is a commitment which holds dear to ALS as an operation enabling our team to grow within their roles, and to leverage entrepreneurialism, driving ALS forward further.

Our transport digital partner Samara have allowed ALS to be completely paperless, and drive efficiency, compliance, Safety, and in turn helping us ensure we meet our CO2 reduction ambitions in line with our customer requirements.

ALS has been recognised for its hard work in driver training and having a member of the team recognised globally for safety and driving efficiency. ALS are engaging more directly with our drivers, and staff using samsara to provide instant support and training harnessing the power of AI.

Our in-house near miss and safety reporting system is fully operational and used across the entire business to make sure not only ALS is operating in a safe and compliant environment, but also support our customer highlight safety concerns, and drive improvements in Health & Safety.

FLEET

Fleet - Investment in the new fleet across the board to ensure we reach, in conjunction with SAFED driver training, the very best in Miles per Gallon performance, and working with schemes in London boroughs to stay compliant in clean air and Direct Vision Standards. At ALS, Safety is our passion.

Staff Training - ALS believe that the key success of our business is investing in our team with continual improvement. We actively support our team in additional training, including Office management system, Management CPC, SAFED, RTITB Driver Training courses, & NEBOSH courses.

DOT - Although only one part of the logistics circle of operations, ALS must lead a deliveries on-time regime for multiple years, delivering a robust and on-time service our customers can rely on, including last-minute ad-hoc requests.

Samsara - Samsara is our existing new transport and safety platform we engaged in 2022. This is already reducing delays and delivery traceability to all our customers. 2023 will see further integration with our systems to include a completely paperless operation, the ability to share in real-time customer deliveries around our UK network, and as a tool for our driver team to increase safety into their day. Claims will be raised immediately, allowing our customers to identify where problems sit and resolve them quickly.
